All along Mulberry Street, the rhythm of common, unremarkable, life pulsed noticeably. This ghastly neighborhood had once been fashionable and stylish as it proudly strode through Victorian and Colonial Revival architectures. Now, having succumbed to temporal trends and tawdry taste, it lumbered vapidly into tenement houses, boarding houses, and flophouses which belied its former glory.
